FOC: a chance for seniors and juniors mixing together to make fun of new freshmen! get to plan, organize, and lead. The participants get to be WET, WILD, n FUN! It’s a event not to be missed! Participating in Hall 9 FOC for the past 4 years will definitely be a part of my memories in future. Something interesting to tell your children next time, something like the NAVY advertisement, have a story that is interesting and not dull by just studying n studying in hall.

Lectures can be skipped, tutorials can be forgone, but FOC is one event that a university student should never ever miss. The joy, the fun, the laughter, and most importantly the friendships that I forged during my FOC are some things that other events in life will not bring about. You might regret going for a boring lecture, but you’ll never regret losing sleep over FOC, cause there is never a dull moment.
So why wait? You only live once... As a freshman that is...

My FOC story can be classified into various genres – action and adventure (PG), mystery and suspense (NC 16), comedy (just for laughs) and sometimes, even romance (Oooohh…). It began with “we were strangers, starting out on a wonderful journey of friendships”. The experience brought me through a rollercoaster ride of emotions and a spectrum of fun-filled activities. In the process, we sang, we cheered, we played and we cried. Time flies when we had fun. It was like being on a fast forwarded mode. But as the episodes rewind, there is a flood of fond memories and friendships forged that one would never regret.

Well.. I thought I will not enjoy the camp as I don’t really enjoy playing orientation games (but I still joined) AND.. I did not regret joining as it is the company that matters! I will say this for FOC,“You have one chance, cherish it.” Make your own decision. Do not regret, judge for yourselves. *grinz*

I joined Hall 9’s FOC two years ago and I never looked back. Throughout the five days, I made new friends, learned new things and enjoyed myself thoroughly. When else can you ever get to slide into Nanyang Lake without people staring at you? Its definitely an unforgettable experience!

Unforgettable.. Extraordinary.. Fantastic.. Phenomenal.. Sensational.. Fun.. Superb.. 超级!! These are some of the words I would use to describe my experience. It is where many wonderful friendships and beautiful memories develop, grow and evolve, and is definitely a meaningful event which is worth the time and effort to take part in. I will always remember my FOC days. You will too =)

It has been quite an experience for a 26 year old chap. I was particularly glad that I could get to gel in pretty well with the younger group. The group that i call friends. Haha... yeah it's been a crazy time with much games and silly activities. It reminded me of the times when i was younger. More sleep would be preferred BUT all in all, it was still good. Made alot of friends and that helped me in becoming comfortable and less lonely living in Hall 9. Special thanks to my GLs who were extremely enthusiastic and kept "ra-ra-ing" all day long.

FOC is not just any other hall event. It’s the time when having FUN is the top priority and getting dirty is just a bonus! If I were a freshie, I will definitely join it again. No regrets!

To me, FOC is a time when all the seniors from all different years of Hall 9 gather together. It’s a special highlight for many of us, a celebration of friendships formed, a collaboration of efforts to make things happen and a continuity of traditions that one batch of seniors passes on the spirit of fun and bonding to the new freshmen joining us. For me it is a time of no worries of academic problems, letting ya hair lose and totally enjoying the company of friends and fun! Although sometimes that can lead to many embarrassing moments caught on camera! But it’s all in the name of fun! For the seniors/programmers it is all about coming out with a smooth and fun camp for the freshmen because their experience is what we’ve created each year, so our aim is to make their experience as good as our past one.

Freshmen Orientation Camp is a major highlight of Hall life! I miss the days where I was a freshmen, where you’re young, blur and innocent, wondering why people who stay in hostels were so crazy. Friendships were forged and bonds were strengthened. A stranger to this place initially, Hall 9 became my second home for 4 years. FOC was the beginning of life here, which led to many other eventful experiences that I would not trade anything for. A week full of fun and laughter, it will definitely be memorable for you as it was for me.
